These scrumptious morsels can be enjoyed in a vast amount of ways. Add them to a salad, in a burger, or on it’s own with vegetables. We love it so much when ideas shape into forms that can be enjoyed with a huge variety of food.

I used aquafaba (the brine of chickpeas) to coat the tofu in, it’s a great substitute for egg whites. Even if you whip it up it becomes all fluffy like egg whites too. It’s amazing! With the remaining chickpeas, you could try out our Chickpea Pumpin and Dill Burgers. If you’re interested in more recipes with aquafaba – try out our Coconut Raspberry Slice. It’s certain to be a crowd pleaser!

Lets take a brief moment to talk about sesame seeds. Well I took it a step further and used ‘black’ sesame seeds! I’m a bit obsessed with them – I just love the flavour and they give a great colour to most dishes! Using them on the tofu helped portray that spicy, peppery look. Everyone knows that the thought of food always comes through your senses and the visual sense plays a huge role.

I wonder if these could be eaten like tenders with BBQ sauce? I love the Trader Joe’s chicklenlews tenders and the Boca spicy chikn patties but I’m trying to give up gluten as I have autoimmune illness. These look so good.

Hi Jo, thanks for your comment. I haven’t tried it with BBQ sauce before, but I reckon give it a go – it would be a great alternative to gluten. We also have some vegan fish fingers made out of tofu coming up on our blog soon. Keep an eye out for those 😃

Hi Katie, I’m Françoise from Tahiti, French Polynesia. I came across your tofu recipe through Pinterest and it sounds yummy. I’m not vegan, not even vegetarian, but “veggie friendly” and I love trying new recipes. I was wondering if you could bake your tofu slices in the oven rather than in a pan, just to save on oil. What do you think?

Hi Françoise, thank you for your message! It’s cool to know that people from Tahiti read our blog! Yes, I think you could bake this one instead of frying. Enjoy!

Newbie to cooking with tofu over here! Just wondering if it should be firm or extra firm tofu, and should it be pressed? Thanks!!

    • Katie January 13, 2018 at 2:18 pm

Hi Libby! I think either tofu will be fine, and yes, it will taste way better if you press it first! If you head over to our YouTube Channel you can see our recent video on how to press tofu! 🙂
