How long has it been since you’ve had a banana split? For me it had been years but for some reason I got in my head that I had to have one, and that’s how our Jazzed up Banana Split came to be here on our blog.
Once I get an idea in my head I have to do it. I didn’t have any banana split bowls so I had to hunt around for some. Luckily I found them at Kitchen Warehouse and they were only $4.95 each! So I dragged Josh off to get the bowls so we could make this magic happen!
This recipe would be a perfect Valentine’s Day dessert – how about the Spiral Vegetable Tart as a main course!? Sounds like the perfect meal to me!
The idea with this recipe is to Jazz it up as much as you like! We used Caramel Sauce and Chocolate Fudge Sauce from Nature’s Charm to drizzle over the ice cream. We love their products! Then we decorated with rose petals and pistachios. Josh and I both loved the flavour of the rose and the crunch of the pistachios. Go wild with combinations! Some great one’s to try would be toasted flaked or slivered almonds on top, some orange rind, choc chips, vegan honeycomb, Butterscotch sauce (also from Nature’s Charm!), pomegranate molasses, maple syrup, fresh fruit or berries, coconut, vegan sprinkles etc. I just want the banana split to come back into fashion! Please let’s start a Banana Split Comeback!
We used a vegan soy ice cream, but feel free to use vegan chocolate or strawberry (or all three if you’re into the neapolitan look!) or any vegan ice cream you desire!
Please share this Jazzed up Banana Split recipe with your family and friends! Bring back the Banana Split!
