We had a wonderful time eating our way around Auckland! We were only there a couple days either side of our trip, but we managed to pack in a few places! Here’s a few of the vegan and vegan friendly places we went to in Auckland. Auckland has a great little vegan community and everyone was so friendly and wonderful. If you’re travelling to New Zealand, join the Auckland Vegans Facebook Page – you’ll get some great tips on whats going on around Auckland and what’s great to go to, and what’s new too.
Imagine going to a bakery and looking at all the sweets in the cabinet and knowing that you can eat all of them because they’re all VEGAN! It’s the best feeling in the world. This was kind of our go-to place when in Auckland, as we’d stop in and buy pies and cakes and eat them later (they didn’t last very long, let me tell you!)
Our favourite savoury at this place was definitely the Mushroom Pie (the pizza was a close second!) We LOVED it. Our favourite sweet treat – mmmm, the cronut was ah-maze-ing! (first actual cronut I’ve ever had!), and the the eclair with coconut cream inside. OH. MY. GOD. Soooo good! Josh’s favourite was the pink donut, hahaha.
Awesome and friendly staff too – the first time we went in there Philippa the owner introduced herself and gave us her card, and a few samples of some yummy food too. Every time we went in there (about 4 times, lol), the staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful!

This gorgeous cafe had a variety of fantastic food choices, all healthy and delicious! We got the raw bagel with portobello mushrooms and a cashew hollandaise sauce. It was so incredible. Words cannot even describe how tasty it was!
We also got a banana caramel milkshake, topped with pumpkin seed brittle. It was beyond amazing!! The staff at the Unbakery were lovely – very friendly and happy. They sold other things as well as cafe food, pre-packaged raw snacks and also the fabulous Unbakery book, with delicious and healthy recipes!
Double V is a new vegan/vegetarian market that has started up every month at the Green Bay Community House. We were lucky enough to be in town when the market was on, so we went along and caught up with some friends we had met at Tart Bakery the week before.
We got the best fries we’d ever tasted with satay sauce from Double Dutch Fries, some cauliflower arancini balls from Mr Shankly’s and some delicious raw food cakes from Green Time – who also have an awesome little cafe in the heart of Auckland!
We loved Auckland, and would definitely travel back to NZ just to eat all the yummy food!!
The Tart Bakery is my kind of heaven, I have the biggest sweet tooth. Being able to choose anything from there could also be a bit of a disaster for me 😉
It was heaven Amanda! It was hard to drag ourselves away from there without buying one of everything! ?
next stop Auckland!
haha! Do it!
