Turmeric Turmeric Turmeric!
I’ve been a bit obsessed with this spice lately! I thought I’d combine it with something just as awesome – potatoes! That’s where Turmeric Chips with a Turmeric Dipping Sauce was born!
I thought I would make some yellow chips with turmeric – how cool is that! It’s just that… you know.. the yellow kind of stains EVERYTHING! Haha. My fingernails are still yellow as I write this!
As if putting turmeric on my chips wasn’t enough – I thought I’d make a turmeric dipping sauce too. With fresh and powdered turmeric! Who does that!? I have to say – it can be a quite overpowering taste. If you’re not into it, you could totally just leave it out of the recipe and just have chips and aioli! Still tastes awesome!
Soooo, Josh bought me an Air Fryer for Christmas! Don’t you love when your boyfriend knows to buy you things to do with the kitchen!? Mum also got me the new Smith & Daughters Cookbook. I literally cried. It is so awesome! Anyway, back to the Air Fryer – we’ve been making some yummy things in it recently and I thought it was about time that I posted an Air Fryer recipe on here! The best part is – if you don’t have one, just cook them in the oven (for double or triple the time!)

Take turmeric to the next level by making these Turmeric Chips with a Turmeric Dipping Sauce! These are addictive - and healthy!
- 5 small potatoes chopped into chip shapes
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/2 tsp fresh turmeric
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- juice of one lemon
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1/4 cup water
-
Toss the chips with olive oil (we used olive oil spray), turmeric, salt and pepper.
-
Put in the air fryer for 15 to 20 minutes at 180℃. Shake after a few minutes to move the chips around.
-
Blend all ingredients in a blender or magic bullet until well combined. Serve with the chips and garnish with chives or parsley if desired.
Yum! If I don’t have a high speed blender, do I need to soak the sunflower seeds first?
Hi Tracey! Yes, it’s probably best to soak them first to soften them up a bit, or you could add more liquid to get it to blend better, though then the sauce may be runny!
can you use tahini instead of sunflower seeds and adjust the water and oil?
Hi Kip – I don’t see why not – that should definitely work! Enjoy 🙂
Chips?… or Fries…? 🙂
Hi John – in Australia we call them Chips! 😉 In America they’re called Fries.
Ouch and oops!! I must sincerely apologise. I saw $ signs in some of the adverts and just jumped to an assumption of Americanism. I can’t apologise enough – that’s as bad as someone assuming I’m English because I’m a Brit. :-p
Hehe – no worries at all John! I can understand why you thought that! 😀 In fact, most of our audience is from America – so it might be beneficial for me to change some of my wording to suit that!
Hi – I’d like to make these chips but don’t have an air fryer. Can I still make them with an oven? Thank you!
Hi Sasha – thanks for your message. Yes, these will totally work in an oven, you will just need to bake them for longer. Cheers, Katie
