Remember those Crispy Potato Skins we made last week? Well we made this Smoky Cheesy Vegan Mayo to go with it and it was out of this world!
We use Black Salt in this recipe because it imparts an eggy flavour. We use it a lot! It’s a fantastic salt to have on hand for many things (including our Vegan Smoked Salmon Breakfast Bowl and Vegan Palak Paneer!). We used black salt from The Salt Box who are offering our readers 15% off their salt range with the coupon code DELIGHT. Simply use that code at check out and you’ll receive the discount! How easy is that! Perfect for Christmas gifts too! They have so many amazing salts in their range. Check out their website here.
Most people use a stick blender to make mayonnaise, but can you believe I don’t have one! (will have to add that to our Christmas List!) – so I ended up using my food processor and processing all the ingredients except for the oil and then slowly adding the oil in last. It worked really well.
For those of you reading this in Australia – chipotle powder can be a bit hard to come by. It’s not in our supermarkets and I haven’t really seen any floating around at health food or specialty shops either! I order mine in bulk from iHerb. You can check it out here. While you’re there, you may as well buy your nutritional yeast, because it’s a cheap price and good quality!
The garlic is optional in this recipe but it does give it a nice kick with the other ingredients. It tastes almost like a vegan aioli.
This Smoky Cheesy Vegan Mayo goes perfectly with our Tofu Fish Fingers – or you could use it on burgers, bagels, with our Thai Flavoured Seitan Skewers or you could try it in our Vegan Curried Egg Sandwiches to spice them up a bit!
If you’re a mayo lover – definitely have a go at making your own – it’s easy and this one tastes so yum! Please share this recipe around with your friends and family! And if you make something of ours, please remember to tag us on Facebook or Instagram. We love seeing your recipe recreations!
