On our way to Finland via Tromsø

Onward to Mefjordvær

Waking up to rain in a place like this is beyond dreamy. It was a quiet rain but still gave off a relaxed vibe as we prepared a small breakfast and packed up. Another ferry ride was the first stop on the next part of our journey. I felt a bit sad leaving Mefjordvær, even more so than Lofoten. I think it was the layout of the house and the homely feel to it.

Down the small hill, our car went on the way to the next ferry stop located at Botnhamn, a village in Senja. It was a quick 35-minute ferry ride to Brensholmen. We kept moving on toward Tromsø the most northern city of Norway which took about 45 minutes.

It was raining quite a bit in Tromsø city. It wasn’t enough to keep the hustle and bustle down though! We eventually found a park in this huge and incredible underground car park which was like a city in itself. It is not the largest city in the world but it seems well laid out and we soon came across two women dressed as clowns. Even with the pouring rain, it wasn’t enough to extinguish their vibes.

We wandered around the town a bit and found a place called Globus Cafe to have lunch at. They had a good middle eastern selection of food and even had a menu with the vegan options marked on it (you had to ask for it). We got a middle eastern platter with tabouli, hummus and salad and I got a falafel plate. It was delicious and a well-needed meal with greens! Then we got an amazing chocolate cake with raspberry coulis to share afterwards which came with a raspberry coulis. If the trip wasn’t already worth it, it definitely was now!

Off we wandered with our big, well-fed grins. Katie spied a cheap shop that she desperately needed to check out. I willingly walked around with a dripping umbrella drawing water drop trails all over the place while Katie darted from one shelf to another looking for something to spend money on. She actually found something pretty decent though. A vegan body cream was just sitting there whispering her name as she honed in on the signal. Well, she bought it off we went toward the ferry terminal to have a look around but mostly to get out of the rain. Our feet had become wet and it was quite cold. We decided the car was the best option now and to head on our way. We did drive up to the huge church that overlooks the city though we couldn’t go inside because someone had decided to get married haha. Well, enough rain! Time for Finland!
