Plant Based Cafe Gold Coast Review

Last weekend Josh and I thought we’d go and check out the Plant Based Cafe, in Paradise Point.  The cafe is located in a strip of shops, pretty easy to find and parking was easy too.

We ordered a choc mint smoothie. The smoothie looked great… but was lumpy and didn’t taste very good all, had a very overpowering banana taste and there was unblended chunks of banana and dates in it.

Then I got the cauliflower wings and Josh got the chicken burger. No complaints about the food at all – the cauli wings were delicious, perfectly crisp and had a slight lemon tang, which I loved. It was a generous serving size and the sauces to accompany it were also delicious! Josh loved his burger – I also had a cheeky bite and it was very tasty. Very filling too.

One thing I would say is that there was no fresh water to be found, and no clear indications of where cutlery or serviettes were! Also the opening hours were a bit strange – there is a lunch menu, but they close at 1pm, which seemed quite early. We were leaving around 12.30 and I thought I’d better call them before we eeave to make sure they would still be open. I rang and they said that they closed at 1.30pm, but we still should be fine to get lunch. We got there at 1pm, but by the time we ordered and got lunch it was about 1.20pm and tables were being packed up around us, which is always a bit uncomfortable. I have heard they have since that changed their opening hours till 2pm.  They have quite a good looking selection of food on their breakfast menu, including a chickpea omlette, a BIG brekkie, a mushroom medley on toast and corn fritters.

The staff were friendly and the ambience of the place was pretty good too, but our final conclusion is  that we wouldn’t rush back, especially because it is a good 30 minute drive from our place.
